Can Carl come to my city?
This book tour is set, so additional stops can’t be added. But Carl periodically does events in different places; you can always find upcoming events at carlhiaasen.com/events.
Carl has come to my city before, but it’s not on this tour. Why not?
Planning a book tour is a freakishly complex endeavor, and Carl’s publisher does their very best to get him to as many places as possible. Unfortunately, he just can’t make it to every city every time.
Will any of the events be livestreamed? If I can’t watch live, will recordings be available afterwards?
Yes!
- The event at Politics & Prose on May 18 will be livestreamed here.
- The event at Live Talks LA in Santa Monica on May 26 will be available via livestream. You can get a virtual ticket here.
- The National Writers Series event on May 29 will be livestreamed. You can get a virtual ticket here.
You will also be able to find recordings of some events on Carl’s YouTube channel.
Can I still get a signed copy of FEVER BEACH if I can’t attend an event?
You certainly can. Signed copies are available from Barnes & Noble and you can also order them from:
- Live Talks LA
- The Novel Neighbor (add a note in the comments section for signature/personalization)
- Vero Beach Book Center (call 772-569-2050 to order)
Do I need a ticket for the event?
Yes. Links to get tickets are in the events on Carl’s Facebook page and website.
I get books from the library. Do I have to buy a copy to get a ticket to an event?
This varies by event. Many don’t require a book purchase to get a ticket, but some do. Please check the specific details for each event at carlhiaasen.com/events.
Are the event venues ADA compliant?
Yes, but if you need specific information about this, please contact the venue.
Will I be able to ask questions at the event?
The format for each event varies, so at some yes, at others no. For those that can accommodate audience questions, please keep in mind that usually there’s only time for one question per person.
Is Carl going to talk about politics at his events, or just his books?
Ummmm…it’s safe to assume both.
Can I bring Carl’s older books to be signed?
Yes, but because he has a lot of books to sign at each event, he can’t sign more than two older books per person, in addition to FEVER BEACH.
Carl is coming to my city! Can he stop by my book club/school/home while he’s here?
No, this just isn’t possible. With so many cities to visit, Carl’s tour stops are carefully planned because he is visiting so many places, and he doesn’t have time to make additional stops.
I have a gift/copy of my book for Carl. Can I bring it to the event for him?
Yes, but please keep in mind that he doesn’t have much extra space in his luggage! If you email admin@carlhiaasen.com, we’ll let you know the best way to get things like this to him.
My kid loves Carl’s books for younger readers. Can I bring them to the event?
Sure! These events are specifically for FEVER BEACH, which is an adult book, but Carl is always happy to meet his younger readers, too.
Will Carl run for governor of Florida? Please?
Sorry, no. Writing is a full-time job!
